An ode to our freedom-fighters - Part II

Ananth, again, has cracked the clues. Thanks, Ananth, for your earnestness. And Ananth, you got them all correct, as always.

The clues and solutions of the previous post follow:

1. Vial Hiduta broke and got freed (10) - Viduthalai
2. "Swaraj is my birthright" - were his words (5) - Tilak
3. Our Pa! - (4) - Bapu
4. Tamil Nadu's national poet - (7) - Bharati
5. One who saved the honour of our beloved flag; his birthplace - (8) - Tiruppur
6. He formed an army and fought for our freedom (4) - Bose
7. Our Chacha! (5) - Nehru

Now, with this post, we continue paying our hearty tributes to the great souls that freed our beloved nation. Here we go:

1. Patriot’s pal, literally; the legendary Tamil-daily Mahaakavi-Barathi edited! (6, 7)
2. Sruthi & ma hit - in a confused mode, and gain Independence (11)
3. Radha teams with head of KTC, and knits the fabric of our beloved Nation (6)
4. This palindrome marks a landmark revolt, and applied salt on our invaders’ wounds (4)
5. I levy urea to somehow find our way of asking invaders to “Quit” India in 1942 (9)
6. Change him as a tool to fight violence (6)
7. Our hand-wheel that kept imported clothes away; Revenue Inspector plays TT and gets 3 aces (7)
8. Chacha, Uri & Ura – Deformed, and can remind an incident that had upset the Mahatma (6, 6)
9. A climbing plant, i.e., a creeper, or a Nation’s flag, both! (4)

Wishing all a very Happy Independence Day!

With luv,

Vijay
